If Only

How often do we look back on our lives and say “if only I had known”? We think about how having the knowledge that we lacked could have changed completely the outcome. The other day while speaking with Edwardo one of the men that I am discipling he began to share with me the responsibility he felt to share Christ with his family. His mother has visited the church a few times and although she is very “religious” she is slowly opening up to the gospel, but his father died several years ago. As he talked to me about this burden he paused and with tears in his eyes he looked at me and said “if only I had known the truth before my father died I believe he would have listened to me.” As I stood there all I could think about was why didn’t someone give them the gospel. What could have been the outcome “if only” Ewardo’s father had heard the truth? Only the Lord knows the answer to that question but may we take the gospel to everyone possible so that more will not have to say “if only”.

Cochabamba Day

Tomorrow the 14th we celebrate the anniversary of the city of Cochabamba here in Bolivia. There will be many festivities and most buisnesses will be closed for the holiday. In the schools today they celebrated because there are no classes tomorrow. Grace and Taylor had to dress up today like Cholitas. Cholita is a word that refers to the indigenous ladies here in Bolivia and some surronding countries. It is a word that can be used as an insult but many times is used as a term of affection. Below you will see Grace and Taylor in the traditional dress of the people here.

Power in the Word

It is truly amazing to see how the Word of God changes and works in the lives of people. I have been studying the Bible with the Arancibia family for several months now, and it has truly made a difference in their lives. The more we have studied the more excited they have become to learn and share with others what they are learning. Recently, when I arrived to have our time of discipleship the couple was almost ecstatic. Mr. Arancibia began to tell me that before when he spoke with his mom, a very religious person about church, she would get upset and didn’t want to talk, but this time he said when he opened the Bible and began to share with her what he had learned and even read on his own; he was amazed at her response. Instead of getting upset, she just sat there and thought because it was after all God’s word. She then told him that she was going to start going to church with him so that she could learn more about what the Bible says. Pray for this family that the Word of God will continue to yield fruit.

Reaching Couples

This past Friday the Lord blessed us with a great couples meeting. This is a more informal meeting where we have games and a lesson on the family and a time of questions at the end. This past week was the end of a four week competition to see who could bring more visitors to the meeting. We ended up with 32 in attendance with about 12 visiting for the first time and a three way tie for the winner of the competition. The meetings have been a real blessing with many for the first time hearing how they can improve their relationship by using the principles in God’s word. So far there are two new families visiting the church from these couples meetings. Our desire as a church is to continue to strengthen families and the home which is the future of the church.

God’s Provision

 (Church in Cobija)

Once again it has been amazing to see how the Lord has blessed our ministry and provided for our special project of building a church building in Cobija. We can’t thank each and every one enough who has prayed and given toward this need. We just received $1800 more for the construction in our monthly statement bringing the total to almost $2500 that we have to work on the second stage of this project. With a little under three weeks left we only lack between $1500 and $2000 to be able provide them with a basic structure so that they will have a place to meet. That would only be 4 more churches or individuals that will commit to give $500 and we can cross the finish line. Thanks again for giving and please pray for this pastor and church.
I was able to be with them for their anniversary service the first of September. It was a wonderful time and we had almost 50 in attendance with about five first time visitors. I preached Saturday and Sunday and was there until Tuesday seeing about the paper work for the land and the plans for the construction. Brother Lorenzo and the church are very excited about this opportunity and want to personally thank you for your sacrifice. Soon you can check out our blog site to see some testimonies from the people there.

If the Lord would have you participate please send all gifts to the address below and if possible let us know by calling or emailing so that we can count you toward reaching our goal.
Send all gifts to Macedonia World Baptist Missions Bolivia land fund P.O. Box 519 Braselton GA 30517 or contact us at kwhite@grtw.org – 336-499-2585.
