Glue Kids

The country of Bolivia is known as one of the poorest countries in South America. There are many people living here without electricity or running water. Although there is a great need economically there is also a great spiritual need. Both of these neds can be seen in a group of young kids here that can be found living on the streets and in shacks near the bus station. Each of these kids will have a small plastic bottle under his or her nose at all times with a type of glue in it that makes them high. These kids run in groups with many of the young girls getting pregnant. They are also known to rob and be very violent. While normally they would not allow you to any pictures recently we were able to speak with them and take some pictures. Please pray for these kids as they need someone to help them to know Christ as Savior.

Reaching and Strengthening Families

One of our greatest desires as a church is to be able to reach and strengthen families. Especially here in Bolivia this is a great need because of the many broken and divided homes. Because of the lack of available work here several thousand people leave the country each month for countries abroad. Almost every family in our church has at least one family member many times a parent that is absent. Our desire is to be able to strengthen these families and help them know the only one who can give them peace.
This past February 18th – 21st we had our first family conference at our church. We had several special guests with Bro. Austin Gardner as the special speaker and his son Chris and four other visitors from Peru. Finally all the flyers were past out, all the preparations were made and everything else was left in the Lord’s hands. What we didn’t know while planning the conference was that this very week is one of the biggest celebrations in Bolivia and South America called Carnival where there are many parties, parades and lots of drinking. Also, the custom is that on every street there are hundreds of people with water balloons ready to soak any passers by. In spite of any of these possible difficulties the Lord worked in a great way. Our attendance on Sunday was 73 for both services, with our highest attendance on Monday of almost 90 people. We had in total 29 visitors and several professions of faith. It was very impacting to hear people say that they never knew that the Bible taught how to better and have success in your marriage and family.  Our goal now is to follow up on those visitors many of which were visiting for the first time.

Special Invitation

It is truly our privilege to represent many people and churches as missionaries here in Bolivia. We would also like to thank each of you for the part you play in our ministry. While many have an important part they play from a distance it is a blessing to have visitors who come and have a part personally in our work here. This past month we had pastor Scott Tucker from Calvary Baptist Church in Rhode Island come and visit us here in Bolivia. He was able to preach in our youth meeting on Saturday night as I translated and there were over fifteen profession’s of faith. It was truly a blessing and encouragement to have him here with us and  We would like to invite each and every one of you to come and visit us and have a part personally in our ministry and what the Lord is doing.
